Faculty Development Program on Critical Thinking in Social Science

 

Christ Centre for HR Development conducted the third session of its Faculty Development Program titled “From Memorization to Critical Thinking in Social Science” on 12 May 2026 at Block-1, X A1 Classroom of Christ Public School.

The session was led by Shilpa B B, who shared valuable perspectives on transforming Social Science teaching from rote learning to inquiry-based and analytical learning approaches.

The program highlighted the importance of fostering critical thinking, discussion-based learning, research orientation, and real-world connections in Social Science classrooms. Teachers were introduced to innovative pedagogical strategies that encourage students to analyze, interpret, question, and engage meaningfully with historical, geographical, political, and social concepts.

The interactive discussions and practical insights shared during the session enabled teachers to better understand curriculum expectations and effectively integrate competency-based methodologies into classroom teaching. The program reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to continuous professional development and excellence in education.

Children’s Day

 

The day was marked with colourful programs to entertain the children. Principal Fr Renish P Varghese, Administrator Fr Noble Jose and Vice Principal Merlyn Christabel were the dignitaries present. Teachers presented the show in a humorous way and the programs kept the children entertained.

 
 

Kannada Rajyotsava

 

With deep reverence to Kannada language, its diverse culture and rich traditions, Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with great joy and vigour on 1st Novermber. The school came alive with the vibrant colors of red and yellow depicting the colors of the Karnataka flag. Various cultural programs like dances, songs, speeches made the day colourful brining us closer to the rich heritage of Karnataka.

 
 

Ethnic Day Celebration

 

Christ Public School celebrated Ethnic Day on 7th November. India’s cultural diversity was celebrated through various programs presented by the students. Principal Rev Fr Renish P Varghese, Campus Director Fr Josekutty V J, program coordinators and students lighted the adorned traditional lamp.

It was followed by the Cultural Meet- a class wise display of the rich cultural heritage of different states in India, glorifying the theme of celebration of diversity.

The second half of the program was made melodious and colourful by various stage programs showcasing the dance forms of Karnataka and Orissa. Shingari Melam performance by musicians from Kerala led by Mr Raghavan. was like a cherry on the top. Students then danced to various peppy dance numbers played by DJ Chethan. The day proved to be an amalgamation of tradition and modern forms of dance as the students enjoyed the day dressed in traditional attires.

 
 

CHRIST’LYMPICS: Annual Sports Day, V - X

 

Annual sports meet Christ’lympics 2024-25 was held on 29th and 30th October. Rev Dr Augustine President St Thomas Education Society was the Chief Guest. Fr Penish P Varghese Principal, Fr Josekutty V J Campus Director, Ms Merlyn Christabel Vice Principal, Ms Jayashree Suresh Staff Coordinator were the other dignitaries present.

Students actively participated in various individual and group events and won prizes. New records were set, old ones broken as they fiercely competed in the true sportsmanship spirit. Two days of fun and enjoyment definitely taught them important life skills of team spirit and companionship.
